What is famil.care ?

famil.care famil.care is the all-in-one system that helps taking care of elders or children from a distance, in the everyday life and in case of emergency, with a smartphone app and an emergency device. In details: from the famil.care app, on the caregiver's phone, you will receive real time information from another other app: famil.care 2u (for elders or for children). The famil.care 2u app is connected via bluetooth to the Emergency Button which is sent by famil.care after the subscription is purchased. With the Emergency Button, the elder or kid can send alarms to their safety network, which the caregiver manages.

No:the caregiver, who downloads the famil.care app, will be able to create a customized addressbook for his or her elder or child, and select the contacts that will be alerted if an emergency occurs. If something happens, your famil.care app will receive an audio notification containing the details about the emergency situation: the type of alarm and GPS coordinates will be sent by instantaneous sms to all the selected contacts, also starting an automatic call sequence until one of them will take care of the emergency. In order to answer the emergency calls, the ICE contacts absolutely don't need any famil.care app.

In addition, the famil.care Simple app meets those users which approach a smartphone for the first time. With the elder's app famil.care Simple, your beloved's smartphone will be 'blocked' on the famil.care interface, that will completely replace all the complicated smartphone features.

The famil.care Simple app, especially recommended for those elders who don't have familiarity with smartphones, is a simplified version of the Senior app, designed for those users who prefer to avoid the multiple and complicated features of modern phones, ignoring the large amount of available apps and stopping to the basic phone's features: call, text message and adressbook/calendar with memos - just like it was a old generation's cell phone, with clear, big and colorful images and pictures of their beloved. famil.care Simple offers the chance to replace the 'home' screen of the smartphone with the famil.care Senior interface, which will be automatically launched when the phone is turned on. famil.care Simple's features are the same as famil.care Senior: click here to find out.

famil.care 2U is the service designed for children and teenagers, with the purpose of giving them more independence and, at the same time, to teach encourage toward the respect for the rules and self-awareness, as well as respecting the value of an agreement. famil.care Junior gives more safety to the kids, which can press the Emergency Button to immediately ask for help. Furthermore, the parents can decide a maximum threshold for the internet traffic for their son, check his physical speed (es. if a friend offers a ride by car or scooter), set a time limit for the smartphone usage (for games, social media, …) and much more. The famil.care Emergency Button is a device made in Switzerland which connects via bluetooth to the famil.care Senior and Junior apps, detecting dangerous situations and giving the chance to promptly intervene. The device is small, light (less then 10g), anallergic and waterproof, so the elder will be able to wear it even under the shower. By pressing the Emergency Button, the elder or child can warn their familiars when they are in an emergency situation. The Emergency Button for the elder (famil.care Senior subscription) has an incorporated accelerometer which automatically detects falls and warns the entire safety network of the elder.

Accessibility and compatibility

No, famil.care requires a smartphone for each installed application: old generation's phones (non-smart) cannot benefit of the protection system granted by famil.care. However, people selected as emergency contacts from the famil.care app, will always receive sms' and calls on every device, also non-smart phones.

No, famil.care apps work on all most common smartphones in the marketplace, as long as they provide the basic features mentioned above. The apps' performances could differ - in accuracy and speed - proportionally to each smartphone system specifications and hardware. Services activation

After successfully completing a subscription purchase online, we will ask you to register your name, surname, e-mail, telephone number (which will be your username to login to your famil.care app), Password and, if you choose a subscription which includes an Emergency Button, a shipping address. Lastly, you will have to register a name for your beloved one, that will appear in your famil.care app, and his/her telephone number, which will be his/her username to login to famil.care Senior or famil.care Junior.

To register to famil.care you just have to dowload the app from the Google Play Store or App Store, launch it and, after the intro video, tap on “You don't have an account? Register here!” in the login screen. You will have to enter a user name, e-mail address, a password and a phone number to associate to your famil.care app, that will be required to do the login.

If you registered to famil.care but you didn't buy any subscription, when you will login to the famil.care app, an example-assisted-person named “Uncle George” will be automatically generated. Thanks to him, you will get the chance to test some of the app features. Once a subscription for famil.care Senior or famil.care Junior is purchased “Uncle George” will disappear from the app, leaving place to the information you enetred during the subscription procedure.

You can download and install all the famil.care app with a single click, directly from the Google Play Store on your Android phone or from the App Store on your iPhone. To quickly find the apps, type ‘famil.care’ in the search field. Once the download is completed, the installation will automatically start and you will just have to launch the app and do the login with the credentials you registered during the subscription procedure.

In order to login to the famil.care app, you must have a User-ID (which is the same as with your telephone number) and a Password, which you have to insert in the proper login textboxes in the login page. These informations are registered by you during the online subscription. Emergency Button

The Emergency Button is a wereable device that, if pressed, allows to alert in real-time the entire safety-network of the assisted person concerning an Emergency or a dangerous situation. It is equipped with an incorporated accelerometer that detects and reports falls (only famil.care Senior). The famil.care Emergency Button connects via bluetooth to famil.care Senior and famil.care Junior, which will warn the famil.care app and all the safety network set by the caregiver. If your beloved one presses the Emergency Button, two little blue led lights will blink on the Button and the Sos alarm procedure will automatically start. The alarm sender will have 30 seconds to cancel the help request from his/her app famil.care 2U before the alarm becomes effective and directly reaches the famil.care app and the entire safety network with simoultaneous sms and emergency call sequence. The fall alarm activates automatically when the button's accelerometer detects a fall (to avoid any false alarms, it is advisable not to keep the Emergency Button in containers like bags, backpacks, boxes) and directly sends the alarm to the famil.care app, specifying the type of alarm and, like always, the GPS postiion of the person in trouble. The automatic fall detection is available only for the famil.care Senior subscription.

famil.care apps perfectly operate even without an Emergency Button. However, without the button, the elder using famil.care Senior won't have the chance to alert who is taking care of him/her about danger or fall situations. For the kids, the famil.care Junior app provides a Virtual Emergency Button inside the app.

No. The Emergency Button connects to the smartphone via bluetooth, so, if your device is off it won't be possibile to send any message, nor will be notified the automatic fall detections.

The medium operative range of the Emergency Button is 50 meters in the opening and 15 meters inside buildings. The Emergency Button connects to the apps via Bluetooth, so the radius will variate depending on the tecnical characteristic of the utilized device.

If you buy a famil.care Senior or Junior subscription, you will receive the Emergency Button at the address you provided; if you choose the famil.care Junior base subscription instead, you won't receive the Button.

Once did the login to famil.care Senior or Junior, the Emergency Button association will automatically proceed, taking about 20 seconds to 3 minutes to complete. Once the app connects to the Button, it will save the Button bluetooth address, in order to allow the next associations to complete instantaneoulsy every time the app is launched again. An Emergency Button will connect with one app at a time.

The Button's association status is showed in your beloved's app (famil.care 2U): in the upper-right corner, just under the clock, you will find a small round icon, that will will take three colorations: red, green, white. When the Emergency Button is successfully connected to the famil.care Senior/Junior app, the icon will be green, confirming a correct association.

To establish a bluethoot association between the famil.care app and a new Emergency Button, you will have to remove from the app's memory the old Button's address with the dissociation procedure. Login to famil.care and access to the Settings. There you will find a red box with the “DISSOCIATE BUTTON” label. Pressing “DISSOCIATE BUTTON”, will make a window appear and you will have to confirm the command. On you beloved's phone, you will notice that the association-status icon (upper-right corner) will become red. From now on, paying attention to remove the old button from the proximity of the app, keep the new Emergency Button pressed for at least 10 seconds, until you see two green little led lights blinking. In a few moment the icon on your beloved's phone will become green, confirming the new Button's association.

Close temporarily the famil.care app, go to your phone's Settings and check if the bluetooth feature is active. Even if it's active, turn it off and on again. Try to verify if the telephone, via bluetooth, detects other devices nearby (you can do this by keep pressing the bluetooth icon from your smartphone's menu, or you can download free apps from the stores) and between them you can find one with the writing ‘PULSE’ in capital letters: that is the famil.care Emergency Button. Once this bluetooth verification is done, open the Senior or Junior app again and keep the Emergency Button pressed for at least 10 seconds, until you see two green led lights blinking confirming that the device is ready for a new association (advertising mode). Wait a few minutes. If, after 5-10 minutes waiting, you beloved's app doesn't show a green icon confirming the operation was successfull, login to famil.care, and do the dissociation procedure, exit from famil.care Senior or Junior and put the Emergency Button in advertising mode again, keeping it pressed for at least 10 seconds. If after following these instructions the association keeps beeing unsuccessfull, we suggest you to get in touch with our technical support, giving them details about the model of the phone you are using. When the upper-right corner icon in the famil.care 2U app is white, that means that the app saved a Button's bluetooth address and it's looking for it nearby to esablish the association again.

If you keep pressed the bluetooth icon in your smarpthone's menu, a list of every bluetooth device will be shown. Look for the capital word ‘PULSE’, that higlights famil.care Button (“Sos Pulse Button”). Alternatively, when the association-status icon is verde or white, click in the upper-left corner in the Senior's or Junior's home page, on famil.care logo: in the second text line you will find the BT address of your Emergency Button, preceded by the app version and followed by Easy Life signature.

Once the dissociation procedure is done, the Senior or Junior app's icon becomes red, indicating that the app is not yet associated to an Emergency Button, but is looking for it.

After the Emergency Button sent an alarm to the famil.care Senior app, there will be a one minute “Grace Period”, during which every Button pressure will be ignored, because a call for help has already been sent to the entire safety network. Once this one-minute period ends, the alarm feature will work again.

In contrast to many emergency devices on the marketplace, the famil.care Emergency Button is completely waterproof, so it is absolutely possible to wear it under the shower or in the bathtub: it can stay submerged at 1 meter depth maximum for 30 minutes.

Yes, there are different levels of sensitivity for the Emergency Button that you can adjust at the first app launch or in the app Settings. According to the lifestyle and necessities of the elder, you can set the sensitivity to the level you consider more appropriate.

Features

GPS position accuracy depends on the smartphone's GPS, so the more the phone is recent, the more the position will be accurate. If your phone or your beloved's one has no line coverage, the position monitoring won't be active. Once both smartphones are connected to internet again (via wi-fi o traffic data) the position monitoring will immediately work again.

To create and set a Safe Area is really simple: you just have to enter the Safe Area section on your famil.care app, select the map area you want to isolate by tapping on the map or entering the detailed address, assign a color and a name (home, school, gym…) and decide if the area will be immediately active, or the if activation should be delayed. You can create and set an unlimited number of Safe Areas. However, we don't recommend to set Areas too close to one another, in order to avoid receiving too many notifications for Safe Area exit/entrance.

You will receive the notification 2-3 minutes after your elder or child crossed a Safe Area's border. This is meant to reduce the notifications if they just immediately go back inside the area borders. This way you won't have to worry for nothing if your caretaker trespasses the safe area just for a couple seconds (he is gone greeting an old friend, retrieving the newspaper, petting a neighbour's dog, ...)

The emergency contacts (ICE) are your trusted people, the ones who will be alerted via SMS and called by famil.care operating center; you can set a maximum of 10 emergency contacts and adjust or replace them whenever you want.

What is a 'priority contact'?
A 'proprity contact' is a special contact that your elder will always find in his/her home page, just a click away from calling or texting.

The speakercall feature is designed for those circumstances where we have the immediate need to communicate with our familiar or to attest his wellness; in order to do so a feature is been implemented allowing us to activate a loudpseaker call without the need of our beloved ones to press anything to answer.

To create a new calendar event you just have to click on the ‘+’ symbol, or click on 'add new event’, in the calendar page. The elder won't be able to get access to the event creation page, but you will take care of making his/her agenda and memos.
